inhaler Inhaling marijuana smoke is the fastest route to the blood stream. Research shows that inhaling marijuana smoke causes more harm to the lungs. Studies conducted in Australia show that 95% of the THC in marijuana is absorbed in the first few seconds of inhaling. Holding the smoke a little longer permits more tar and other harmful chemicals to be absorbed. Irritation of the throat and the lungs is one of the leading adverse effects that a marijuana smoker experiences with such process. Because of this, researches have found a way to turn around things. It is found that through vaporization, adverse effects of smoking marijuana will be reduced if not totally eliminated.

Vaporization is a technique that can be used in order to avoid irritating respiratory toxins present in marijuana smoke to be inhaled. Through a vaporizer, the cannabis is heated and not burnt, releasing the THC as vapor which is the one that is inhaled rather than smoke. Laboratory studies by California NORML and MAPS have justified how vaporizes can efficiently transport cannabinoids without the risk of inhaling harmful toxins. These toxins that are present in marijuana are highly carcinogenic polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons, which are key suspects in cigarette-related cancers. The act of burning the drug causes the release of these toxins as byproduct. Statistics show that although the correlation between marijuana and cancer has not been established, it can’t be denied that marijuana smoking has resulted to an elevated risk of bronchitis and respiratory infections.

With the promise of cannabis vaporizers, users may now inhale active cannabinoids while avoiding harmful smoke toxins. Vaporizers heat cannabis to a temperature of 180 – 200°C, translating that it is not fully combusted and no smoke is produced. With such, THC and other medically active cannabinoids are emitted with reduced, if not totally eliminated, carcinogenic tars and noxious gases found in smoke. Vaporizers have been actually tested by some medical marijuana patients and have found that it is very effective to relieve irritation. There are also other alternatives to vaporizers such as water pipes. But vaporizers are by far the most effective out there.

Question: If the vaporizer produces no smoke, therefore stench is minimized, does it also eliminate the distinct odor on a users breath as well?

I will not debate with your conclusions because I think you’re exact on the money! You have put together a valid case for your sentiments and now I know more about this unusual topic. Thanks for this excellent post and i will come back for more.

i highly recommend the v-tower. i bought it for a very affordable 219$. it is a whip system which gives it that hookah feel i guess. if our a tukey bag fan, you can purchase the v-tower extreme for 100$ more ( give or take) and this gives the volcano a run for it’s money ( volcano are like 600-800$… personally dont think it’s worth the money when you could buy the v-tower extreme).

as far as smell, little to none… if there is a smell it’s gone within 30 min or less…

Vaporizer herb after vaporizing can be used as a once a day smoke before bed to really make sleeping fast and easy if desired.

    Hi Speed_Reader,
I have a vapolution vaporizer that is glass on glass, I rarely have the smell of smoke on my breath after i vape.

You do notice the smell on breath more from other methods of consuming cannabis such as: smoking out of a joint or blunt, smoking from a water bong or glass pipe.

I just read through the entire post and it was very nice but since I learn visually, I find videos to be very helpful. I enjoy what you guys are always up too. Keep up the excellent work. I will revisit your blog regularly for some new post.

I disagree and don’t believe that smoking marijuana in a pipe or in hemp papers has harmful effects on the lungs, I’ve been smoking for ten years in the last three I quit using blunts to roll with because it was affecting my throat and lungs and if you smoke the resin from a pipe it self it will not stay on the lungs you will cough this back up I’ve notice this in my experience, so next time you roll one up let it be in a hemp paper tastes better anyway.

Vaporizing MJ makes it taste a bit different than smoking it but the buzz is much cleaner and lasts longer.

  13. Midnight Toker Says:

    Hi Jefferey,

From my experience, I found vaporizing to produce a cleaner taste – where you can actually taste the marijuana as it smells… Which can be very nice for certain strains. My personal favorite is OG Kush.

I’m frustrated. We purchased a Volcano vaporizer & we were thrilled with it at first, mostly because of the clean fresh taste & a cleaner feeling high obtained with much less herb, but we’ve noticed that it still causes quite a burning throat irritation & plenty of coughing. I’ve been an avid toker for ~30 years. (usually pipes or one hits) The only time I’ve ever had serious lung problems was while I smoked occasional cigs too, more than 8 yrs ago. But now as a result of only a few months of vaporizing, I’ve developed severe asthma & can no longer use our fancy Volcano! :(
I couldn’t believe it, but when I go back to my usual toke, the asthma clears up. Then I return to the vape & sure enough i begin to wheeze again, especially late at night??? I just can’t understand it! I’ve heard about all of the health benefits, but it certainly isn’t the case with me. Some of our friends still prefer standard toking as well. They claim the vape is harsher on their throats too. If anyone has any info. about why this might be, please share the wisdom. I was sooo hoping to be done with toking & the pervasive scent that accompanies it, but for now I’m back to carrying my old, stanky hitter box around… Ohhh pooopy dooo pooopy dooo… :{ SUX!!!!

@Speedy. Yes Vaporized Marijuana has a different smell them the actually burning of the cannabis. And as for the smell on your breath. My girlfriend doesn’t like me to smoke Marijuana, and when I use a vaporizer she never can smell or taste it.
