Cannabis Seed Germination – Part 1

After ordering a few feminized medical marijuana seeds and receiving the strains a couple weeks later, DNA Genetics OG Kush and TH Seeds MK were delivered. The company also threw in some bonuses of Dinafem seed strains White Widow, Blue Widow and Blue Hash. All the medical marijuana seeds received were hard, dark and healthy looking, so they should produce strong plants and bountiful harvests. Very pleased with the fast and discreet delivery!

For this medical marijuana grow, the selected strains are 3 OG Kush and 3 MK seeds for some variety. The remaining seeds are being kept in a cool, dark, dry plastic container for future use. Medical marijuana seeds can be kept up to 5 years in the right conditions. The goal is to keep 1 plant of each strain as strong mothers that will be used for clones and kept in a vegetative state.

Starting off with two clean glasses half filled with distilled water, must use distilled water as there are no minerals that would affect the initial cannabis seed germination process. Dropping 3 of the selected marijuana seed strains within their respective glass of water initiates the cannabis germination process, seeds will ‘float’ on the water surface for a few hours while the water penetrates the shell. Some seeds will sink to bottom after a few hours, regardless, seeds should not be left in water for more than 24hrs or they could drown and not develop…

Since there are 2 different strains being used, clearly labeling the cups helps avoid confusion and to track growth of each e. The seeds are placed on top of the refrigerator and that’s where they are going to stay for the next 24 hours, the seeds shouldn’t receive direct sunlight, temperature for this stage is between 75 – 80 degrees Fahrenheit.

The seeds will absorb the water over the next 24hrs and a tiny tap root will break through the seeds shell. This is a great sign of viable cannabis seed germination that should produce strong healthy medical marijuana plants.
