Cannabis Seeds, Growing

Now that all 6 seeds have sprouted and the white sprout is visible they are ready to be moved into their growing medium and humidity dome. The white rootlet grew quicker and longer on all 3 OG while the MK still had strong, healthy growth but those sprouts are a bit smaller and not as uniform.

The rockwool had been conditioned and soaked the previous day.  They came with pre-drilled holes, but we had to use a skewer to make the holes wider and deeper for the roots to fit and so there wouldn’t be any root damage from bending.

As rockwool is being used as the growing medium the seeds were given time to germinate a little longer under the moist paper towel as seeds often heave up and out of rockwool, so the white rootlet was allowed to germinate to their current lengths of at least .5 of an inch long to stop this from happening.

Sterile tweezers were used to carefully remove the seeds from the paper towel and maneuvered very carefully into the rockwool with the white rootlet pointing down and the seed sitting around 0.25 of an inch in the rockwool.  All were covered by very gently pushing the rockwool to cover them.  It is very important to limit the time rootlet is exposed to air and light.

The rockwool cubes were then watered with plain tap water instead of distilled water as tap contains enough dissolved solids through their first few weeks of growth and no other nutrients are needed.  The excess water was drained away and the rockwool cubes are being kept evenly moist.

They were then placed in their humidity dome under a fluorescent tube lamp with a digital thermometer to ensure temps stayed even and in correct temperature range.  Cannabis seeds germinate and sprout quickest when the soil temperature is between 78 – 80 degrees and the air temperature is 72 – 74 degrees.

Cannabis seeds need at least 16 hours of light but for faster growth they can be left on for 18 – 24  hours.  Lights are on a timer and are operating a 20 hour on / off cycle.  They go off at 5pm and then back on at 9pm ensuring that the seeds are staying warm and close to a constant temperature of 74 degrees especially in the coldest part of the day and night.

The lights are positioned 6 inches above the seeds.  All rockwool cubes were clearly marked to what seeds were which.

Politicians are 10 years behind the times when it comes to pot use. People have been fighting for a long time against cannabis and hemp prohibition with some movement going on now. Still too slow for those caught up in the jail system for possessing a little weed. Our freedoms have been trampled on by folks who know nothing about how beautiful marijauna can be for someones life, if one learns about growing cannabis. Keep up the good work.

Just posted a update on the girls. New ones coming soon. Just been a bit crazy with transporting the girls to a hydro setup and dealing with heat / lighting… Details to come.

They are about 7″ in height and looking lovely though!
