Cannabis Safety, Marijuana 101

Are you in search of a good way to hide smell of marijuana? Though this flower contains a strong aroma that is unique to the plant, there is times that discretion is needed. Two possible instances where you might need to mask the smell of the actual marijuana flower is for storage or after the cannabis has been smoked.

How to hide smell of marijuana in storage:

- A simple vacuum sealer for your marijuana works really well, while also maintaining the potency, and helping you buds last longer. If you are still unsure, try a double vacuum sealed bag with a dry sheet in between to eliminate any lingering odor.

- A glass jar or Tupperware container are alternative solutions to a vacuum sealed setup. The aroma will have a hard time escaping from these sealed containers and are quite effective.

How to hide smell of marijuana that has just been smoked:

- Purchase a vaporizer that has low odor.

- Construct a activated charcoal filter where the expended marijuana smoke may be exhaled into.

- Light up some nice smelling incense in the room (Nang Champa incense is a all-time favorite).

- Use some air freshener in the room (Ona works wonders).

- Open a window or door for a while and let the room air out. This is particularly effective if it is windy outside.

So here you have it. A few helpful tips to help you hide the smell of marijuana.

Happy medicating!

To really hide…well not hide but to eliminate the odor is to kill the odor not hid or cover it up.

I use BioExtreme to do this and it is by far the best I have ever used. Check it out, google it bioextreme I cant remember if it is .net or .com but if it is odor you are dealing with this is the answer… saved my butt…

Okay great, thanks for the additional resource!

I am a medical patient so I dont worry too much about smell but if it is a worry or if traveling and staying in a hotel I use Ozium(comes in 3 scents) it is a oxidizer so it cleans the air not just covering up smell :D

  4. Midnight Toker Says:

That’s a good idea. It’s better to eliminate the odor, than try to mask it…

Hi, just wanted you to know I have saved you to my Google bookmarks because of your great blog layout (LOL). But seriously, I believe your blog has one of the cleanest design I’ve came across. It really helps make reading your blog a lot easier.

There is always the option of standing on the toilet with your mouth to the fartfan. If its a good fan it will even take the ashes.

  7. speed_reader Says:

Try a wet cloth, folded twice or three times. If it’s damp enough, it’ll filter out 99,9% of the smoke before it hits the other side of the fabric.

Killing the odor on your breath is the biggest challenge. Food, drink, alcohol and other “consumables” won’t cover it up completely because the odor doesn’t emanate from the esophagus. It comes from your lungs. And that is hard to mask.

Anyone have something creative to handle that? :^0-~

  8. Midnight Toker Says:

    Great suggestions!

Haven’t found a way to completely eliminate the smoke odor from the breath. Though I have found it is less noticeable when using a vaporizer.

You can always eat some garlic after ;-)

  9. pam7254 Says:

Good old standby is to light a fragranced candle. The flame burning will draw any smoke to it and eat it up, and the candle always helps a room smell better. I also use scented oils in a brass ring that sits on a lightbulb. Hope everyone had a great Christmas!

First water cure to eliminate the Cannabis odor (and taste), then vaporize for pure stealth.

  12. Weed Weevil Says:

Take an empty toilet paper tube and stuff dryer sheets in. (Bounce work best). Now fold the ends over a bit on each end. I use clear wide tape around it to seal the whole thing and wah lah! exhale your hit through this bouncy boy and it smells like you’ve just done laundry. (Oh! and be sure to blow your exhale at the lit end of whatever you used to inhale and paranoia begone!

  13. davey Says:

I usually blow my smoke throught a filter contraption

  16. Kat Says:

I have been covering up the smell for over 10 years in not only my parents house, but my college dorm and 3 other apartments. I moved into a new apartment in August of ‘09 and no matter what I do my landlords always smell it! I bought insulation from Home Depot to cover up areas of the apartment that have doors which lead into the main part of the house (it’s a basement apartment), I can’t blow smoke out the windows cause the only ones I have are below the master bedroom and the bathroom vent blows right outside by their open windows as well. I make a new spoof every week, I blow the smoke into the couch cushion so it doesn’t billow in the air and I always keep my hand over the bowl to keep the cherry from burning the smell into the air. According to them it goes right up the staircase (behind the insulated door) which leads up to their kitchen/front door. I keep telling them they are smelling sage incense but they won’t buy it and now they told me that incense falls under their “no smoking” policy so I can’t even burn that without a hassle. I have candles and oils but they don’t seem to be strong enough. I have tried all different kinds of spray but that doesn’t seem to be helping either and I also get paranoid that they hear me spraying it now. What do I do???? I can’t afford to move out right now and they watch my every move and my comings and goings so I feel like I can’t even take it outside! How did I manage getting away with it all these years, and these two jerko’s smell it within seconds?!

  17. GuerillaGrowfare Says:

I would recommend using Ozium or ONA spray they work great. Zep smoke eliminator is very good as well and can be bought in large cans. Kat it sounds as if the house is older and not well insulated so the smell will travel easily through the floors. A good carbon filter fan system is recommended for guaranteed results

  18. Jill Jones Says:

For your breath suck on a fresh orange

  19. Midnight Toker Says:

    Mmm… Oranges are tasty!

  20. BCBud Says:

You should do another post on older apartment buildings world wide. I think many in smaller communities and older cities vent into the hallways from the suites. Opening the windows may blow your smoke directly to a neighboring suite. Never know who resides there…

My neighbor was a narcotics officer :) In Canada here, sometimes they are not dicks and just want to get some rest after a day of being a paid dick… One way to avoid this in that situation is to put a wet towel under the door, inside out of site. A dry one is OK if cigarette smokers live in neighboring suits, that generally covers everything and the wisps of paranoia will be combined into the cornucopia of aroma’s from other occupied suites.

Be safe and enjoy the Paranoia, I miss it! Someday Buds, they will forget all about about your silly Marijuana war thanks to your efforts! Go California…

Paper towel tube stuffed with dryer sheets. You will never find a better way to hide the smell.
    1. Hit bowl
    2. Cap bowl with coin or other object (your thumbs of steel?)
    3. Blow hit through tube.
    4 Repeat till stoned

  22. Supercoolshpool Says:

I use a toilet paper tube with dryer sheets in it as well. I live with my crazy dad who ALWAYS is snooping around, trying to catch me doing ANYTHING wrong, and he has never caught on to me when using this simple contraption. For even beter results, blow smoke out an open window.

  23. JB Says:

    Ozium air freshener works

  24. DaBudGuru Says:

You guys are gonna love me lol.

Completely eliminate the smell of marijuana inside of a room/house.
**Disclaimer: This does not work when smoking from any kind of paper. You need to be able to kill the bowl with your thumb or a snuffer. (Best to use the pipe, bong, hookah, etc…

    Items Needed:

A paper towel or toilet paper tube.
A roll of tape (I prefer black electric or duct tape.)
    5-unlimited dryer sheets.

Take a dryer sheet and fold it over into a square that will fold over the end of the tube. Thoroughly tape it so as to cap off the the end with a layer of dryer sheet.

Now take at least 4 dryer sheets and fold them into the same sized square as you used for the cap. Now lay the square flat on the open end of the tube. Then you push in the middle of the square down into the tube. Make sure it is pushed to completely cover the inside of the tube.

Voila. Blow the smoke from whatever you’re smoking out of through the tube. DO NOT INHALE THROUGH THE TUBE! Your house will smell like fresh laundry.

Had to learn this trick in college cause I shared a SMALL dorm room lol.

  25. notmyname Says:

I have to agree with the dryer sheets! My thoughts are that if you burn incense it sends signals, hey I’m trying to mask some types of smells. Dryer sheets are the way to go. I use a toiletpaper roll stuff with maybe 8-10 sheets. Just be sure that the sheets are pushed tight together so all air is filtered. And change them once in a while :P

But ofcourse this works best with pipes that you can clear easily and not have excess smoke like with burning spliffs etc. Stay safe!

  26. Em Says:

hi, so the T.P roll thing will work with anything?@DaBudGuru i didnt understand what he meant with ” this wont work by smokin from any kind of paperYou need to be able to kill the bowl with your thumb or a snuffer” im sorry, im quite a beginner at this :S

  27. bigdogdaddy Says:

that you need to be hittin from a bowl of somekind, smokin thru a joint or a blunt,it continues to burn, even when your not tokin, constantly smelling up the place, hope that helped ya.

  28. Mr Ian Says:

Keeping it in the refrigerator, the cool will help stop it smelling so bad, and the seal around the refrigerator door will keep any smell leaked, in.
Negative ion generators are also supposed to be another good one, though it’s suggested that you put this on an easy wipe suface as resins can build up below it over time.

  29. Renegade Says:

When smoking outside, I stuff a fabric softener sheet into a tp tube and exhale through it. Smells like spring time goodness. Stupid neighbors…
