Exciting news… Joining the list of legal medical marijuana states is Rhode Island, which is now the third state in the nation and the first on the East Coast to permit marijuana sales to chronically ill patients.
Rhode Island state lawmakers had a remarkable vote to overrideĀ a veto from the Reublican party. The senate voted 35-3 to pass this bill for medical marijuana.
Patients who reside in California can purchase marijuana from stores by supplying their patients a state-licensed card. This combination of regulated distribution and allowing patients to grow a limited quantity for themselves is the best way to ensure safe access for patients.
Rhode Island began allowing chronically ill patients to register with the states Department of Health and posses up to 2.5 ounces of marijuana in usable form and 12 plants. But the state never created a legal way to obtain marijuana.
Though marijuana remains illegal under federal law, it has been said that the Obama administration will not target dispensaries who obey state guidelines.
This is amazing news that just shows the massive strides taking place in the medical marijuana industry. Millions of people are realizing the factual benefits of medicinal marijuana.
Happy four-twenty to the Rhode Island patients, congratulations and it just shows what can be accomplished! Your voice will not go unheard!
